Trading is considered to be highly rewarding all across the world. With various instruments in the arsenal, a good brokerage and top-notch trading platform, one can easily access financial markets and make a great fortune. Despite all the benefits, in Russia, according to esportsbets.ru millennials have now less tendency to go for trading than it has been before. Instead, they are more interested in what the gaming industry can offer.

For Russian millennials, trading within the country does not look as an attractive and reliable source of income. In this part of the world, retail trading is mostly associated with Forex. In fact, this industry is still not properly regulated in Russia. The Central Bank has introduced regulatory laws only this year, and just 7 brokers have officially obtained the license from the authorities so far. Since millennials care about their hard-earned money, they are unlikely to risk them in the current trading environment.

Another reason that keeps away Russian millennials from trading is the learning curve. It is rather steep for those who do not have special training or any financial background.

Why is gaming a top-tier choice for Russian millennials?

Video gaming popularity has been thriving in Russia for the last 20 years. Playing games has become a frequent form of the pastime for many millennials within the country. Now, with an advent of developed professional gaming, Russian millennials can combine their hobby with earning good money.

Russian millennials choose gaming

Two years ago, Russian eSports industry received a generous donation from the billionaire Alisher Usmanov – more than $100,000,000 were invested in the Russian cybersport organization Virtus.pro. Additionally, Russia officially recognized eSports as a separate athletic discipline with the tournaments held on the federal level. Making a career in Russian cybersport now sounds both intriguing and challenging for local millennials. The possibility of playing the favorite games, receiving a salary with extra bonuses and participating in international competitions has driven Russian millennials towards eSports.

Currently the most popular games included in Russian cybersport are Dota 2, League of Legends, CS:GO and Hearthstone.

Are Russian millennials successful in pro gaming?

Many Russian millennials have been tracked with a remarkable performance in the pro gaming. Their examples are quite inspirational for their peers.

For example, a professional Hearthstone player from Arma Team named Pavel won the Hearthstone World Championship and took home $250,000. When the tournament was held, Pavel was only 18 years old.

Another successful millennial eSports player is LighTofHeaveN (Dmitriy Kupriyanov) who played for the famous NaVi Dota 2 team. With his fellow teammates, LighTofHeaven back in 2011 won the first International Dota 2 Championship with an award of $1,000,000. The year after, LighTofHeaveN with NaVi made once again the way to finals, but in the end got the 2nd place in the tournament.

Conclusion

It seems that Russian millennials are fond of skill games that are also fun to play. Considering this as well as the money-making prospects, it is not a surprise that gaming is more attractive for this generation than trading.
